Hi Welcome to Subway!

"Hi Welcome to Subway!" a phrase I now say about a million times a day.  Every single flippin' time the door opens.  Sometimes I just wanna go lock it so nobody can come in and I can get a chance to catch my breath OR we should just have a recorded button that sounds all personal and stuff. haha just kidding. That's terrible.
Anyways, it has almost been a week at Subway and at first, I was pretty panicky.  My first day was a slow day so my boss, Yvette, basically trained me on EVERYTHING, which was WAY too much to take in in a day so even now I still have questions, but she is really really nice and answers all of them.
I'd say the hardest part of the sandwich making process, physically, is closing the sucker.  The customer is staring and sometimes I close it pretty messy so that's uncomfortable.
And mentally, the hardest part is remembering the different types of sandwiches and "formulas" and figuring out what buttons to press on the cash register.
SO. MANY. BUTTONS.
I think I am finally getting into the swing of things now.  It is almost routine, not quite, but almost. Oh! and a word to the wise...please don't ever walk into Subway on your cellphone.  It is one of the most annoying things ever.
OH OH OH!!! also, super random but today I met my Uncle VV's mission companion that served with him in South Africa! He is my coworker's dad....small world.
Hmmm...what else? Yesterday I went to my friend Morgan's mission farewell. I am so happy for all of these new missionaries that are getting called and leaving!
Fairly recent calls/farewells:
Kenzie (Rochester, New York)
 Jessica (Jacksonville, Florida)
Morgan (Portland, Oregon)
Jayson (Long Beach, California)
Michael (Atlanta, Georgia)
Erin (Milwaukee, Wisconsin)
Briana (Belem, Brazil)
Nick (Manchester, England)
Kelsey (Brisbane, Australia)
(I'm really sorry if I forgot anybody! This was just off the top of my head)
I am so excited for all of these brothers and sisters who have decided to serve missions.  They are going to have a wonderful time and will be blessed for their service and sacrifice.
Anywho, it is the start of a new week, and I really hope it goes by faster than last week.  Take care all :)

And That's Office Biz

Yesterday was my first day of work at Liberty Tax and I was so terrified, when in reality, I really shouldnt have been.  But, I was. I get terrified for every single new little change that goes on in my life.  I'm trying to work on that.
I pulled into the parking lot and wanted to barf and go home, and I hadn't even gotten out of the car yet.  Needless to say all of the panic was completely unnecessary.
It was actually fun! All day we only had 1 person come in for tax related purposes. 1 more, but he was the paper delivery guy.
Basically my job is to look cute in professional clothes (its like playing dressup!) and run the front desk area. I answer phones, make copies and Tax Return Packets, and "check people in" kind of like in a doctor's office.  I hand them a clipboard with paperwork to fill out, and when they are ready they bring it up to me and I take them over to  MY DESK (It's like I'm important or something) and I transfer all of the personal information from the clipboard paperwork to a computer program.  And then I ask them a few questions from the program, and then I refer them to one of the tax preparers that sit
at desks behind me.
And the cycle continues...well...it would if there was more than one person. Already Larry is the best boss I have EVER had.  Okay besides the Lamoreauxs.  I really think I am going to love it there.  We will see about Subway tomorrow!

P.S.  I started my mission papers today!!!

Is That...Spring?

I went to the Mesa Temple today, took some beautiful pictures,
enjoyed the warm sun, got some great study time in on the grounds,
and watched 6 different wedding parties take pictures and share all of those
wonderful exciting moments together.
Seriously so precious.
Considered taking creeper pictures of some..but that would have been crossing the line probably...
Also, I hope we are done with Winter now.
I'm totally okay with that for sure!
Upper 70's in January are fine and dandy with me :)

The Power of Fasting and Prayer

First of all, I would like to apologize for always redesigning my blog. haha I don't know why I get so bored with the designs so fast...but it do.
These last couple of days have been so crazy! I was getting pretty discouraged about the whole job thing so on Sunday I fasted about it and prayed so much to find one that I could understand if I became slightly annoying. haha
Then... Tuesday I got a call from Subway for an interview and as I was waiting for it, a  gentleman approached me and said he overheard that I am looking for work and he basically gave me job on the spot.  My interview at Subway was a success but I went into Liberty Tax to speak with the man, Larry, anyways. He said that he was looking for a personal assistant type of thing; someone to answer calls, fill out paperwork, and input information into the computers. So I filled out an application and waited for the official phone call...which came yesterday!
So I went down to Liberty Tax, filled out all of the paperwork, and told him I would get back to him later that day about my Subway Schedule.  Turns out, my manager at Subway, Yvette, needs me almost every day til 4pm and all day Saturdays.  Larry needed me almost every day at 2pm and all day Saturdays, but he seemed more lenient so I took Subways schedule.  I was so nervous to tell Larry my schedule.  I told him that I completely understood if this wasn't  going to work out anymore and he said, "Emily, do you want this to work out?" and I was like, YES! and he said I could have the job anyways--5pm-8pm with no Saturdays.  He was so sweet!
So...I have two jobs! I am so happy!  I don't start 'til Monday, but this is going to be so great! I won't be so bored anymore.  I am a little worried that I will get a little more stressed with both of the jobs, but I think I can handle it.
I truly believe that Heavenly Father had a huge hand in this and for that I am so grateful.  He knows our needs and the desires of our hearts and when we turn to him with faith in fasting and prayer we will be blessed.

On the Prowl

This week has just been way too annoying for me.  I have been job hunting all week.  I really don't like to job hunt because it is frustrating.
All I can think about is finding a job, filling out applications, interview gone wrong, etc. On my first day on the prowl, I got an interview scheduled at White House Black Market and I was so confident.  Probably way too confident because I went in the next day and it didn't so well. Apparently, retail managers prefer people with retail experience, not food experience, which is all I have.  Who'da thunk, right? Understandable, but everyone has to start somewhere.  I just hope I find something good quick! Heaven forbid I have to result to Mcy D's or Wally World.  So the job hunt continues!
Also, I decided a few weeks ago that Nursing is not for me.
I am not interested in it anymore and I know that it isn't going to make me happy.  So...when I go back up to school, I am changing my major to Art Education! I am already so excited to finish up my generals and start on my major next semester :)

Alongside Purple Mountains

I went to Colorado!!!!
For those of you who don't know, "America the Beautiful" was written from Pikes Peak in Colorado...
so that explains the title....that's the end of that story.

And I have forgotten how much I really loved always having the mountains RIGHT THERE.  They are constant, dependable.  I mean, obviously they are constant. They're mountains.  I just mean that the world is ever changing and there are very few things that will always be there.  The gospel of Jesus Christ, my eternal family, some friends, and the Mountains.

The mountains were not the only things I missed while I was away.  I got to see my very best friends!!!
Okay hold up. Lets take a step back.

Can I just say that I am very proud of myself for driving Megan and Bryson 12.5 hours across states by MYSELF!? Yeah.  I did it.  My butt has never been so numb.  Except when I did it again on the way back.  I also figured out that you can plug the little DVD players into the tape pluggy thingy so that I can listen to Gilmore Girls with surround sound to keep myself awake.  Genius!

My first adventure while in Colorado was to go see Stacey at the Lamoraeux's house! And I got to hang out with the kiddos.  It was so nice to see them all again.

Adventure Day with Matt.

We went to the park, Panera to spend giftcards that my wonderful mother gave me, ice skating for free because of a toy drive, starbucks for hot cocoa, and then his wonderful mother gave us Gift cards to this Mexican restaurant that for the life of me I cannot remember right now. but it was delicious! We walked in and the hostess was like "You guys can take a seat at the bar, or if you'd like I can get you a table." what the HECK!? Apparently we look old or something.  I figured its probably because of Matthew's beard...

And then I hurt my neck skating and put stacey's heating pad on it while I read my scriptures :)

it felt better than it probably looks.. and it did the job!

Also, Stacey and I never finished the last few episodes of Gilmore Girls over the Summer, so we just HAD to.

Finishing a TV series gives me the most annoying feeling.  I get really sad, and frustrated because I have gotten so attached to the characters.  I want to GO to Stars Hollow and stand under the gazebo and walk into Luke's Diner and Dosey's Market and get the gossip from Miss Patty, and a "Suga" from Babbett.  Too bad none of that even exists.  Which is very frustrating.  What I love about Gilmore Girls though is that none of the episodes get old.  I can rewatch the series over and over again.  I just love it that much.

Also!! The Allreds taught me how to play Trains. (A Ticket to Ride) and I was so addicted! I wanna buy it!

New Years Eve I went to Red Robin for lunch with some friends. My Favorite! and then we saw Les Mis. It was so amazing!!!!!!!!! I loved it! I do wish that the voices were more...opra-y.  But it was amazing anyway.  AND! Anne Hathaway really did do a great job. I was very impressed.

Every year at the Goodsell's house for new Years Eve, they do predictions for the year.  I have never actually done them before this time though because I usually go to the dance.  Sooo... here are some predictions:
1. I will serve a foreign mission.
2.  Stacey will go to BYUidaho (which isn't happening anymore because she chose Evans and I am so happy for her!!!!!)
3.  Matt will serve a foreign mission.
4. I will do more art pieces. (I think that one is more of goal...oh well)
5.  Dang..I cant remember any more...but there were a lot!

Stacey and I decided that we would take Krista out for one last LuLu's date before she left for BYUidaho. And we put together a college survival kit for her!
"Hey Krista, Yo like a sista.  Yo gonna find a lovely lil mista.  All the other girls are gonna get pissed...a.  Becuz yo so cute, never put yo phone on mute.  Cuz yo won't wanna miss out on a date...cuz he might be yo soul mate <3.  So here's this college survival kit...we hope it's a hit!"

Vitamin C cough drops, 4 packs of ramen noodles, chapstick because of all of the boys she'll be kissin', gas relief tablets, "PS I Love You," Gloves, Hot cocoa, and stress relief masks.

I just love my friends so much! :) Oh how I have missed you

We are going to miss you Krista!!!! Best wishes in your first Semester of College! See you when I get there!!!

We are very excited for Stacey to Graduate High School!!!

We went to Bath and Body Works Semi Annual Sale and I fell in LOVE with twilight woods.  Never thought I even liked it.

Matt and I also went to paint the town with Jake and Morgan and we traded again.  This is going to have to be a tradition now :)

The owner of the shop has these little dogs--SO ADORABLE!! I wanted to take one of them home.

When we grow up we wanna be flight attendants! Thrifting.

Girls Day at Manitou Springs <3 love these two gorgeous girls

Creepy Alley. EEE EEE EEEK

Precious <3

I spent Friday evening with Matt and his family. We were the chefs for the night! We made chicken and veggies and...kuskus? Whatever it was, it was so good! and sparkling cider.  Then we just lounged around and watched Despicable Me AND Monsters Inc. with the family. i love them <3

All fun things must come to an end... But I am so thankful for the opportunity to take this trip! It was perfect :) Thank you to my parents for letting me do this, to the Allreds for letting me stay with them, and for my friends for a wonderful time!
